The game is out, jam is finished

Wow, time has passed very quickly. The game is finished, and I’m actually proud of how it plays, even though it's missing a lot of parts I wanted to add. Godot was so easy to work with!

This was my first jam in about five years. This time, I did it solo, but it was still a lot of fun. I do regret focusing too much on code. For example, I ended up creating the drift zones from scratch twice. I also had an issue with the camera transition and had to write my own code through a few iterations. I think I lost a couple of hours there.

There are some things that didn’t make it into the game, but you can imagine them but I still want to mention them:

  • Actual difficulty: Due to lack of time, I wasn’t able to balance the game, so I left it possible to just drive through each drift zone to count as completion.
  • Police: They were supposed to appear when you’re actively drifting and try to break your score.
  • Car paint editor: I wanted to create a silly editor where you could draw anything on your car with a brush.
  • A train that can take you to another area.
  • Sounds and music.
  • Thanks to GMTK for launching the jam, it was really fun.
